Kentuckiana Motorsports Presented By Lucas Oil
It is New Hampshire for the stars of the NASCAR CUP Series this weekend. However, let's talk Atlanta. Chase Elliott won after passing Corey LaJoie on a restart in the final few laps. Elliott had the experience to claim his first Atlanta win. Corey had a great ride and a strong showing for a small race team. He gave it a go, wrecked on the last lap, but got much attention to his less funded team. And well deserved! Perhaps the biggest winner was Speedway Motorsports Sports Inc, the owner of this track and many others. The spring Atlanta race looked like a mini-Daytona or Talladega with tight side-by-side action. Leads changes were non-stop. This event was just as powerful! Weather can be tricky in the fall. But Atlanta needs to be in the playoffs.
Sad to report, another tough day for Louisville's own Ben Rhodes. At Mid-Ohio he finished a very distant 23rd. He is on track to make the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series playoffs with his spring Bristol victory. Still, Ben needs to step up and have stronger finishes. The Mid-Ohio winner is Parker Kligerman. Parker has spent time with Kentuckiana Motorsports in recent years. Only competes in a few races. Great guy, strong NBC race announcer-commentator with much energy. Congrats to Parker!
Big event this weekend for the NHRA. We mentioned it in previous weeks. It is the NHRA Mile-High Nationals in Denver. The speed will get your attention. Some battles, razor thin. You want excitement, watch! It is scheduled for Fox Sports 1 and Fox Sports 2.

The Sportsdrome Speedway continues to have non-stop excitement. This weekend it is the 34th Annual Bud Light Mania Twin 45's Modified Figure 8! It should be a packed crowd! The track is just off Interstate 65 in Southern Indiana, just a short distance from downtown Louisville. Very fan friendly. Check out the website for the full schedule at www.sportsdromeonline.com . And of course check for tickets specials on the its Facebook page.
Also take note! Sportsdrome Speedway Owner-Operator Mike Gibson just posted a big announcement. A new division! And they're already getting early word out on one of the biggest events of the summer at The Drome. Here is that announcement from Mike!
"We are excited to announce a brand new division at the Sportsdrome! The Clunkers Division will being great excitement and what better way than a Flag Pole Race to kick the inaugural race off for them!
First race will be apart of Rooster’s Fun Night and Destruction on July 30th! School Bus Figure 8 Racing and the Return of the School Bus Figure 8 Rides".
A Clunkers Division! Maybe Mike will allow us to get behind the wheel and give it a try! Would no doubt certainly be entertaining!
Enjoy the racing!
