Nothing like Race Week in Daytona! There is plenty of people, warmer weather, and excitement! But even better: Hearing the roar of the NASCAR engines soaring around the historic Daytona track!

There are many storylines for the running of the Great American Race. Can another unknown take the checkered flag? Will new adjustments to the new car make for better racing? Can veterans Kyle Busch, Martin Truex Jr, or Brad Keselowski finally get their first ever Daytona 500 win? Perhaps the most watched will be the return of 7-Time NASCAR Cup Champion, Jimmie Johnson. He'll have to qualify to make the big race. Regardless, He's back!

Local eyes will be watching the ARCA 200 at Daytona on Saturday. Kimmel Racing has entered two cars. # 69 Scott Melton and # 68 Gage Rodgers will represent Kimmel Racing based in Southern Indiana. Another local driver to watch this weekend is Louisville's Ben Rhodes. The 2021 NASCAR Truck Series Champion will try to repeat the magic of two years ago when he won the NASCAR truck race at Daytona! The ThorSport Racing driver will have a special sponsor on his truck as Clark’s Pump-N-Shop takes the hood. The convenience store chain is based in Ashland, Kentucky. We wish all drivers with local ties the best!

As mentioned, Jimmie Johnson has to qualify for the 500. He's planning to only run about a half dozen races in 2023. Who knows? If he comes out of the gate looking strong if that could change! He's running the #84 as driver and part-owner in Legacy Motor Club (The new Richard Petty race team) Johnson has 83 Cup wins. What a story line it will be if he wheels home number 84.
