Happy Easter from Kentuckiana Motorsports!

If you are looking for a great local sporting event this weekend it is the Rocky Glover Keep Kool 100 Modified Figure 8 event at the Sportsdrome Speedway. And there is plenty of other action too! We talk about the Sportsdrome Speedway in in our online report below. The Saturday races include Ford Oval and Figure 8, Powder Puff, Sportsman, and more! Get the full slate at www.sportsdromeonline.com. A few weeks ago, The Sportsdrome Speedway kicked off its 77th season. Rocky Glover was a stalwart when it came to local racing. Sponsoring events and cars for years! He passed away this past November. He loved the Sportsdrome and local racing. As always, check out the Sportsdrome Facebook page for special discounts and last-minute changes.

The Salem Speedway, about an hour northwest of Louisville in Southern Indiana, doesn't hold its first season opening race on Sunday April 16. Learn more at www.salemspeedway.com. However, this Saturday it will be fun for the family as the track host an Easter Egg Hunt for the kids. Race teams will also hold a practice, weather permitting. We do want to point out, this weekend the Ohio Valley Dragway will open its season. The dragstrip is about 25 minutes from Louisville along Dixie Highway in West Point, Kentucky.

NASCAR heads to the dirt at Bristol Sunday evening. For a very long time, the sport never raced on Easter weekend to allow drivers, crews, and teams to spend the weekend with family. That changed a few years ago. A church service is scheduled. Still, NASCAR decided the dollar and TV ratings seemed to be more important. Could NASCAR not do something like Thursday-Friday-Saturday racing? Sunday racing not good optics for many. An interesting Cup race at Richmond. After some brief ups and downs, Kyle Larson came back with consistency late to get the win. Chandler Smith nabbed his first victory in the NASCAR Xfinity taking the checkered flag. Carson Hocevar got his first truck win at Texas Saturday is a exciting overtime finish. The Trucks battle at Bristol this weekend. Louisville's Ben Rhodes has yet to get a win. However, the 2021 NASCAR Truck Series Champion has been consistent. Rhodes is 3rd in the truck points standings.

It was an action packed weekend of drag racing for the NHRA in the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals at Ponoma, California. Justin Ashley won two events, the Mission Challenge and a Top Fuel. In Funny Car, Matt Hagan scored the win. Dallas Green claimed the event championship in Pro Stock. Up next at The Strip at Las Vegas Speedway is the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals. You can watch the excitement of the NHRA on Fox Sports 1 and Fox Sports 2.

It was a wild finish in the The Indy Car Series race at the 1.5 mile track at the Texas Motor Speedway. With a lap to go, Romain Grosjean crashed in Turn 2. Seconds before the incident, Josef Newgarden made a calculated move, driving past Pato O’Ward for the lead on Lap 249 of the 250-lap event. All race long the competition was strong and fast. If you haven't watched an Indy Car Series race lately, put it on your calendar! The next scheduled event is the Grand Prix of Long Beach on April 16th.

With so much going on in the world these days we encourage you to think about the outdoors. And that includes the safety of animals, ranchers, and farmers. Years ago, Lucas Oil stepped into the forefront to do just that. Find out more and what you can do at: www.protecttheharvest.com
