It is the Paper Clip this weekend for NASCAR: Martinsville! A true drivers track. Favorites have to be Martin Truex Jr, Kyle Busch, and Brad Keselowski. As for NASCAR Cup race at Bristol and the dirt, a typical short track event. Christopher Bell got the win. A driver with dirt experience. Tensions ruled the evening, including between Kyle Larson and Ryan Preece. Joey Logano entered and won the Craftsman Truck Series race. There were many cautions. He narrowly beat Ty Majeski. Both races at Bristol, entertaining.
There will be Wednesday racing this week on the dirt locally! Mike Gibson, Dean Worrell, and the Sportsdrome are leasing the small dirt track at the Scott County Fairgrounds. Its about 20-25 minutes form Louisville. Yes, Dirt Racing! Mike promises a great evening of racing! He's planning more than a half-dozen events at the track known as the I-65 Speedway. Check out that Facebook page. After Mike gets through Wednesday, he turns back around for a full Saturday slate of racing at The Sportsdrome. This past weekend a strong crowd turned out for The Rocky Glover Memorial & the Keep Kool 100. Robbie Greenwell took the checkered flag. After the event, Greenwell said he was very excited to win the event. Rocky Glover supported racing and teams for decades. He passed away last November. The Salem Speedway will also be busy this weekend. It is about an hour outside of Louisville. Salem is an historic half-mile high-banked track. The Lucas Oil Great American stocks, Legends, and other events. For the schedule see salemspeedway.com. The 2023 racing season at the Ohio Valley Dragway is underway. It is a 1/8th mile track about 25 minutes from Louisville along Dixie Highway in West Point, Kentucky. Action at the bullring, Ponderosa Speedway kicks off April 21. It is a track in central Kentucky at Junction City near Danville (About an hour and fifteen minutes southeast of Louisville). The first event of the season brings a $7,500 purse. Many fans during the summer head south to Bowling Green (KY) to Beech Bend. There is an amusement park, camping, and racing. The Beech Bend dragstrip brings in the fans and has a wide range of events.
In the Indy Car Series drivers take the the streets this weekend in the the Grand Prix of Long Beach. The last action took place at the Texas Motor Speedway. Josef Newgarden made a last second move to narrowly get the win over Pato O’Ward. The NHRA sees action next in Houston with the Spring Nationals April 22-24.
