Kentuckiana Motorsports Presented by Lucas Oil

One word says it all: Talladega! This weekend the stars of NASCAR and ARCA battle at the Talladega Super Speedway. We have always stated, even if you do not know anything about racing, watch the final 25 laps of Talladega and Daytona. It is pure excitement!. Big names usually win. But due to the size of the track and distance, any driver can win. As for the Cup Series, Kyle Larson took the checkered flag this past weekend in Martinsville. We should point out, NASCAR ran wet-weather tires in the truck race at Martinsville. They held up and allowed racing to continue without long delays in drying the track from rain.

Should be a strong weekend in the NHRA! The NHRA sees action in Houston with the Spring Nationals. Some young drivers have already won this year. The action, very close. Lucas Oil is a longtime backer of the NHRA. You can watch the excitement of the NHRA on Fox Sports 1 and Fox Sports 2.

The Indy Car Series offers great racing. The past few years drivers have gotten bolder, battling side-by-side and inches apart, AND in open wheel cars! Veterans Josef Newgarden and Marcus Ericsson won the first two events of the young season. Over the weekend, the third race took place in Long Beach, California. A young racer, Kyle Kirkwood dominated from the pole. He earned his first Indy Car Series win in only his 20th start. He races for Andretti Autosport. The next race is April 30 in Alabama.

We've told you Lucas Oil has been a longtime sponsor of Kentuckiana Motorsports, and we're thankful. Spring is here and soon the heat of the summer will be upon us! Be sure when taking spring and summer trips to put some Lucas Oil in your car! It Works! Our other sponsors include PNC Bank (Sponsor of Scott Dixon's Indy Car Series Car), Sportsdrome Speedway (Celebrating more than 77 years of Racing!), locally owned Bright Pest Control and Bright Retail in Louisville, (Offering Do-It-Yourself Professional Pest Products with a retail store), and Knox Ford in Radcliff, Kentucky) (It also has a sister dealership, Tri-County Ford in Oldham County, KY). KMS friends also include: VoiceTel Kentucky (Offering telephone service for $25.00 a line, and that includes all taxes and fees), Temco Roofing, Jim Ellis/Attorney At Law, ICA Dumpsters, Kentucky Raceway Ministries, Nimlok Kentucky, Dynamic Healthcare, Lyndon Mower Repair, and Kentucky Medicare Plans (Serving Kentucky and Southern Indiana with Health and Medicare plans). We also thank our media connections in all series, NASCAR and with NASCAR Media, Indy Car, Monster Jam, ARCA, and NHRA for helping us bring the sport to the fans!

With so much going on in the world these days we encourage you to think about the outdoors. And that includes the safety of animals, ranchers, and farmers. Years ago, Lucas Oil stepped into the forefront to do just that. Find out more and what you can do at: www.protecttheharvest.com

We encourage you to get out and watch local racing. There are so many great tracks. The Salem Speedway, about an hour outside of Louisville, offers high-banked and short track action. The Sportsdrome is celebrating more than 75-years of of continuous action. It is just off-I65 in Southern Indiana just a few minutes from downtown Louisville. Drome owner Mike Gibson is also running a limited schedule in Scottsburg at the fairgrounds, on the dirt! The season at the Ohio Valley Dragway is underway. It is a 1/8th mile track about 25 minutes from Louisville along Dixie Highway in West Point, Kentucky. Action at the bullring, Ponderosa Speedway kicks this weekend . It is a track in central Kentucky at Junction City near Danville (About an hour and fifteen minutes southeast of Louisville). The first event of the season brings a $7,500 purse. Many fans during the summer head south to Bowling Green (KY) to Beech Bend. There is an amusement park, camping, and racing. The Beech Bend dragstrip brings in the fans and has a wide range of vents. We always encourage you to check out track websites or social media for last minutes weather changes and ticket discounts or specials!
