Kentuckiana Motorsports Presented by Lucas Oil

It is going to be a huge weekend at the Salem Speedway. Weather permitting, the action will be non-stop! On Saturday there are huge Late Model and Street Stock events scheduled! In our recent visit to Kimmel Racing in Clarksville, Indiana, Will Kimmel told us they're taking two cars to Salem on Saturday. "We're still very active in ARCA. But there are some competitive races in other local and regional divisions. Scott (Melton) and I will be running several area tracks including Salem this year" said Kimmel. By the way, we are still giving away a a FREE Will Kimmel Racing Hero Card autograph, go to our Contact page and simply fill out the form and tell us why you want a signed Will Kimmel colorful card. He is a two-time Salem Speedway Champion. To learn more about Salem, go online to salemspeedway.com, or check out the Facebook page. The track is about an hour from Louisville.

There is also a mega event at the Sportsdrome Speedway on Saturday. It is just off I-65, five minutes from downtown Louisville. Check out the Sportsdrome Speedway website (sportsdromeonline.com) and its Facebook page. On Saturday it is "A Night of Fun and Destruction".

There are many great local tracks in Kentucky and Southern Indiana. Yes, you'll see Lucas Oil logos on many of them. The company loves grass roots racing! We constantly remind you to check out the websites and social media. Especially for last minute changes. And that includes issues with Mother Nature! The Ponderosa Speedway is known as "Kentucky's Baddest Bullring". It is a short dirt track in central Kentucky at Junction City near Danville (About an hour and fifteen minutes southeast of Louisville). Drive south to Bowling Green (KY) and you'll enjoy Beech Bend. There is an amusement park, camping, and racing. The Beech Bend dragstrip brings in the fans and has a wide range of events. Just outside of Louisville in West Point Kentucky is the Ohio Valley Dragway. It is a 1/8th mile track on Dixie Highway.

The NASCAR Cup Series hits The Tricky Triangle in Pocono this weekend. Lets hope the weather doesn't delay events like it did at New Hampshire. We do want to give a big shout out to NASCAR racer, John Hunter Nemechek. He's won two in a row in the NASCAR Xfinity Series (New Hampshire and Atlanta last week). He raced a year in the Cup Series before going back to the trucks a few years ago. Now, he's found a strong home with Joe Gibbs Racing in the second-tier of NASCAR. The son of racing great Joe Nemechek has learned quote a bit, and grown tremendously. Not sure what lies ahead, but don't be surprised if he's not back in a Cup car very soon.

After what he called a challenging NASCAR Truck race at Mid-Ohio, Louisville's Ben Rhodes returns to the track at Pocono this weekend. You may recall, both Rhodes and ThorSport Racing teammate Ty Majeski came together late at the Ohio road course and wrecked. We suspect things have settled in that racing organization. Like Nemechek, Ben has matured over the years. He's just 26 years of age. He has many good years ahead of him.

When going to the track, summer trips, or driving around town, don't forget to put Lucas Oil Products in your car or truck. They do so much for racing communities across America. Other sponsors of KMS include PNC Bank (Sponsor of Scott Dixon's Indy Car Series Car), Sportsdrome Speedway (Celebrating more than 77 years of Racing!), locally owned Bright Pest Control and Bright Retail in Louisville, (Offering Do-It-Yourself Professional Pest Products with a retail store), and Knox Ford in Radcliff, Kentucky) (It also has a sister dealership, Tri-County Ford in Oldham County, KY). KMS friends also include: VoiceTel Kentucky (Offering telephone service for low as $25.00 a line per month), Temco Roofing, Jim Ellis/Attorney At Law, ICA Dumpsters, Kentucky Raceway Ministries, Nimlok Kentucky, Dynamic Healthcare, Lyndon Mower Repair, and Kentucky Medicare Plans (Serving Kentucky and Southern Indiana with Health and Medicare plans). We also thank our media connections in all series, NASCAR and with NASCAR Media, Indy Car, Monster Jam, ARCA, and NHRA for helping us bring the sport to the fans!

Over the summer, more people will be getting outside. When out traveling or on vacation, we encourage you to look around. See the farms and ranches in America. Our farmers and ranchers are doing work hard and need support. Protect the Harvest backs them. It is a Lucas Oil backed initiative. Learn more at: www.protecttheharvest.com

In the The Indy Car Series at Toronto, Christian Lundgaard narrowly took the win beating the hottest series driver of the year, Alex Palou. After a weekend off, the Indy Car Series heads next week to Iowa. The NHRA is in Washington state this weekend for the Northwest Nationals. There has been some very close action in the NHRA this season. If you get a chance be sure to watch! .
