It is a new year! Happy 2022 from Kentuckiana Motorsports and Lucas Oil !

We do want to continue to encourage everyone to help the victim's of the recent storms in Kentucky. Many are lending a hand through various agencies like the American Red Cross, Samaritan's Purse, The Kentucky Government Relief site, as well as local agencies and churches in the storm hit areas.  Help will be needed for months to come. Kentucky Raceway Ministries continues to monitor and provide assitance. In racing, NASCAR teams continue to adjust crew members as they prepare for the running of the Great American Race: The Daytona 500 on February 20.  Drivers and teams will have several practice sessions the week of the big race. And of course there are The Duals!

Expect Dover to look a little different in 2022, now that Speedway Motorsports and the Smith family have bought the monster track! That deal closed before Christmas.

For NHRA fans, expect a stronger season than 2021. And this past year was outstanding. In 2020, Covid 19 really hurt the sport. This past year viewership was up more than 3%. Fox has done a great job with coverage and giving fans a chance to see some world class athletes. As talked about before, NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart is getting the NHRA fever, as a new team owner. And his new wife is NHRA driver Leah Pruett.  Expect more eyes on drag racing in 2022!

Locally, the Kimmel Racing shop is staying busy in Clarksville, Indiana. They're preparing two ARCA entries for Daytona. Bill Kimmel expects an exciting year ahead. Another area driver looking forward to the new racing season is Jared Soards. He will leave the Legends cars after two seasons. The Oldham County High School student plans to do battle in the CRA Late Model Series. Grandpa Rick (Service Manager at Tri-County Ford) knows his 15 year old grandson has much to learn. Tri-County Ford and EZ Credit will be on the car as sponsors. The young Soards will will enter his first race in April at the quarter-mile short track in Anderson, Indiana. Then later, at the high banks of the Salem Speedway (Salem, Indiana). The track is a little more than an hour from his home.  Jared started racing go-karts at age 4. Bill Kimmel has watched Jared on the track. The veteran car owner and crew chief says Jared has talent, just needs seat time.
